About

My Background

I’m Deirdre Cahill, an accredited psychotherapist with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), and a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I hold a Master’s degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from University College Cork. Originally from Ontario, Canada, I now live and work in Ireland.

My Approach

My training is integrative, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic perspectives and adapt them to the person I’m working with, rather than applying a single fixed method. In practice, that means paying close attention to your particular history, circumstances and way of making sense of things, and letting that shape the direction of our work together.

Part of that work is considering how present difficulties may connect to longer-standing patterns of thinking, feeling and relating, and to experiences that have shaped them over time.

Therapy involves both exploration and reflection, guided by what matters most to you. My role is to bring professional knowledge, clinical judgement and a considered therapeutic perspective to that process.
